Recognizing Symptoms Saves Lives
Calvin Laughlin recognized stroke symptoms and acted quickly.
This week, EXCEL General Foreman Calvin Laughlin was with a subcontractor’s employee. He noticed the operator looked dazed and had unusual body language seemed. Calvin asked the operator if he felt okay, and the operator responded with slurred speech that he was experiencing numbness on the right side of his body.
Slurred speech and numbness in the face, arm, or leg are symptoms of a stroke, even if they don’t last long. Calvin recognized the signs and immediately notified safety and the on-site EMT, who responded quickly, taking the employee to the nearest hospital for further testing.
Calvin Laughlin deserves recognition for his concern and quick response in obtaining medical attention for this employee. Thank you for being an excellent Brother’s Keeper!
