EXCEL Receives Excellence in Construction for Valero Diamond Green

EXCEL Group has been honored with the prestigious Excellence Award from the ABC Pelican and ABC New Orleans/Bayou chapters for our exceptional work on the Valero Diamond Green Diesel facility in Port Arthur, Texas!
In just six months, our team installed 12,000 feet of cable tray and 13,000 feet of conduit and pulled approximately 800,000 feet of wire across a sprawling and disjointed site. Working in a grueling 13-1 schedule, we doubled our workforce to about 150 individuals, ensuring we met the immovable deadline. Despite the challenges, we relentlessly focused on quality, with 99% of labor self-performed, demonstrating our commitment to excellence.
Our dedication to quality was unwavering despite the hurdles we faced during the summer. We ensured top-notch standards by having three QC managers consistently in the field and addressing punch lists along the way rather than waiting until the project's end.
Our primary goal was to complete the project on time and within budget without compromising quality. Carl Torina, our site manager, emphasized the importance of maintaining quality throughout the process. As St. Pierre mentions, "It was some of the best quality jobs I've ever seen. We're never going to sacrifice quality for quantity."
