In an era where innovation and technology continue to reshape the world, the value of skilled trades cannot be overstated. Last week, Cody St. Arnaud, our Training and Workforce Development Manager, had the privilege of visiting several high schools. These visits were not just about donations or discussions; they were about inspiring the next generation to seize the incredible opportunities awaiting them in the trades.

St. Amant High School: Welding the Future
Our journey began at St. Amant High School, where we donated welding rods to their shop. Engaging with the welding and carpentry classes, we discussed the realities of the industry, expectations from companies, and pathways from high school programs to rewarding careers. The enthusiasm and curiosity of these students were truly invigorating, reminding us of the importance of practical education.

Albany High School: Empowering Electricians
Next, we ventured to Albany High School, equipped with electrical tools for their vibrant program. Watching the students prepare for competitions, it was clear that these young individuals are not just learning—they are mastering their craft. Witnessing their pride and dedication reinforced how hands-on experience sparks passion and skills.

Lutcher High School: Guiding Career Paths
At Lutcher High School's career fair, we had the opportunity to engage with students from 8th to 12th grade. Conversations about pay, growth opportunities, and industry success were enlightening for both the students and us. It's crucial for young minds to understand the diverse paths available in skilled trades and to envision a future filled with promise.

Kentwood High School: Celebrating Growing Interests
Our week concluded at Kentwood High School, where we donated welding shirts and spoke about the myriad opportunities in the trades. The growing interest in welding and skilled trades was palpable, and it was heartening to see students eager to explore these avenues.

At EXCEL, we proudly sponsor St. Amant, Albany, and Kentwood High Schools. Our commitment to these institutions is about more than support; it's about shaping futures and building a skilled workforce ready to tackle tomorrow's challenges. Together, we are nurturing a generation that will craft, build, and innovate their way into the future.
