Project Description
Beginning civil and foundation works in February 2023, this project marked a major commitment to reducing the energy sector's carbon footprint. The initiative, designed to achieve a daily production capacity of 3,000 metric tons, was completed in December 2025. At full capacity, it created approximately 1,500 jobs, underscoring its considerable scale and impact.
The scope of work included extensive concrete placement, structural steel erection, and the installation of miles of piping and cable trays. These components are crucial to building a robust infrastructure, ensuring the facility can produce ammonia efficiently and sustainably.
The project emphasized safety and quality, adhering to industry-leading quality assurance and control practices and demonstrating exemplary safety performance. This commitment underscores its dedication to operational excellence. The use of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) execution, alongside strategic milestone realignments, was crucial in maintaining the project's schedule and ensuring timely progress. The collaboration between the client and EXCEL was instrumental, combining expertise and resources to drive success.
The New Ammonia Project not only advanced sustainable ammonia production but also demonstrated the potential to reduce industrial carbon emissions through innovation. With millions of work hours logged safely and a significant workforce contributing to its success, the project has set a new standard in low-carbon energy solution.
